H.E.L.P., the Charity is proud to announce that it has issued its 1000th grant for school grants.
The 1000th grant recipient, Sheridan All Prep Academy in Sheridan, Oregon submitted an application to assist with their STEM kits for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Lindsay Cornwell, a Mentor/Teacher and Sheridan Pod Teacher at All Prep Academy, commented on receiving the grant and what the funds were used for:
“Sheridan All Prep Academy K–5 students are thrilled and grateful to have been awarded a H.E.L.P. grant. Thanks to this generous support, we were able to purchase STEM kits for 25 Kindergarten through 6th grade students who attend our in-person learning pod. Each student selected a kit aligned with Oregon Science Standards as well as their personal interests, making the experience both meaningful and exciting.”
“Because of this grant, our students spent hours engaged in hands-on learning at home with their families. Projects included building STEM model cars featuring four-wheel drive vehicles, wind-powered designs, solar helicopters, and more — all while strengthening scientific knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Students also explored spatial intelligence and collaboration through Brain Flakes Space Shuttle builds, discovered the science behind magnetism, levitation, and color mixing with superhero-themed experiments, and applied real-world engineering concepts while constructing machines such as cranes, satellite dishes, and space rovers.”
“Sheridan All Prep Academy K–5 Sheridan Pod is incredibly thankful for H.E.L.P’s generosity and commitment to supporting education. Your partnership has provided our students with valuable, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of STEM.”
Through its grant program, H.E.L.P. provides grants to U.S. based non-profit tax-exempt schools and other entities to support educational programs. H.E.L.P. was born out of the desire of the owners and franchisees of Schmizza International, Inc. to make a positive, long-lasting impact on the communities we serve. The worldwide recession caused many local, state and federal governments to drastically cut the budgets at schools, with potentially devastating results. If our children are unable to receive a quality education, they could fall behind children in other countries, potentially weakening our nation’s competitiveness. It was this need that drove Figaro’s Pizza and its franchise owners to conceive of H.E.L.P., the Charity. H.E.L.P., is ‘Helping Education with Love and Pizza’. H.E.L.P. was launched in late 2010 and has since grown by supporting public schools and non-profits.
